In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the May 8, 1945 massacres, His Excellency the Algerian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Kamal Bouchama, received the distinguished Algerian journalist and novelist Mrs. Fadhila El Farouk at the embassy in Beirut on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
This visit was part of commemorating the national memory and recalling the milestones of the liberation struggle, which constituted a turning point in modern Algerian history. In a symbolic gesture expressing a deep sense of belonging and loyalty to cultural identity, Mrs. Fadhila El Farouk presented His Excellency the Ambassador with a copy of one of her prominent literary works, "Writing is Another Life." The book combines creative dimensions with intellectual reflections on the meaning of existence and resistance through the word.
The meeting was characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation, as cultural and intellectual issues were addressed, reflecting a shared interest in strengthening the presence of Algerian literature in the Arab and international arenas. The role of intellectuals in preserving national memory and accompanying diplomatic processes from a position of soft power was also discussed.
