An interview with Syrian poet Nawal Al-Hiwar

On Thursday morning, June 5, 2025, His Excellency the Algerian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Kamal Bouchama, received the distinguished Syrian poet and writer, Ms. Nawal Al-Hiwar, at the Embassy in Beirut.

This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss issues of shared Arab cultural interest and the role played by intellectual and creative elites in strengthening bridges of dialogue between societies and fortifying cultural identity in the face of current challenges. The importance of literature and poetry in expressing people's hopes and struggles was also addressed, especially in light of the rapid transformations taking place in the Arab world.
